The PW1000G geared turbofan engine

We are a partner in Pratt & Whitney's PW1000G geared turbofan engine, which has been selected for the new Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) aircraft as well as for the Bombardier C-series aircraft and most recent for A320neo (new engine option) family of aircraft.
 
In the PW1000G engine, a gear system allows the engine's fan to operate at a slower, optimum speed while freeing the low-pressure compressor and turbine to operate at their optimized higher speed, increasing engine efficiency and delivering significantly lower fuel consumption, emissions and noise.

The PW1000G engine will produce 14,000 to 17,000 pounds of thrust for the MRJ aircraft and 17,000 to 23,000 pounds for the Bombadier C-series and and 24,000 to 33,000 pounds for the Airbus neo.

We have full responsibility for design, development and manufacture of the intermediate case and turbine exhaust case.  We also manufacture the LP shaft.
