Volvo Aero re-designed the flameholder for the RM12 afterburner. The new design is a radial cooled flameholder. It has an increased lifetime and reduced life cycle cost.
The new flameholder is also easier to service since it can be removed without taking the engine out of the aircraft.
The RM12 engine is Volvo Aero's development of the General Electric F404 engine and is used to power the Gripen fighter
