Volvo Aero has launched four new European research and technology projects focusing on strengthening the European Aero Engine supply chain. These project topics were defined by Volvo Aero for the Call for Proposal mechanism of Clean Sky – Sustainable & Green Engines (SAGE).

As a step in further streamlining the Volvo Group towards heavy commercial vehicles, AB Volvo has initiated a process aimed at divesting Volvo Aero.

The new European technology programme LEMCOTEC (Low Emissions Core Engine Technologies) held its first workshop in Potsdam, Germany, on 24th/25th October 2011. The program is led by Rolls-Royce Deutschland and was officially launched on 1st October 2011.

For Volvo Aero, sales during the third quarter decreased by 22% to SEK 1,410 M compared to SEK 1,815 M in the prior year. Adjusted for currency fluctuations and the divestment of Volvo Aero Services, sales during the third quarter increased by 7%.

The Volvo Aero owned company, Applied Composites AB - ACAB - and Korean Air have signed an agreement to work together on radomes, wing structures and other components in composite material.

At the major international aero engine conference ISABE 2011 in Gothenburg today, Volvo Aero will present a number of technical solutions to increase the thrust produced by the RM12 Gripen engine.

Next week, Volvo Aero, together with research institutes, universities and colleges, will present no fewer than 34 scientific papers. This is taking place in Gothenburg at the major international aero engine conference, ISABE 2011; where over 350 of the world's leading aero engine experts are gathered.

For Volvo Aero, sales during the second quarter decreased by 26% to SEK 1,588 M compared to SEK 2,133 M in the prior year. Adjusted for currency fluctuations and the divestment of Volvo Aero Services, sales during the second quarter increased by 8%.

Volvo Aero has signed an agreement with the aircraft engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney regarding its participation in Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower PW1100G engine. Volvo Aero will develop and manufacture two important components for the new PW1100G engine designed for the A320neo family, an updated version of the Airbus A320.

Finncomm, Finland’s largest domestic airline, has chosen Volvo Aero for maintenance of their PW100 engines. The agreement includes the modern engine types PW127E/M for Finncomm’s growing fleet of ATR aircraft.
