The International Aerospace Exhibition, Dubai Airshow, will open this weekend. Volvo Aero will participate this time with its largest ever involvement at an exhibition in the United Arab Emirates.
“The Dubai Airshow is important to us for many reasons. We have seen that in recent years the exhibition has become an increasingly important meeting place for companies in the global aerospace industry. In pure geographical terms, Dubai is located in an area with major players and in which the aerospace industry is growing very rapidly, so there are many reasons for us to attend the trade fair,” says Robert Lundberg, Marketing Director at Volvo Aero.
The Dubai Airshow is a bi-annual event. Volvo Aero employees have attended earlier exhibitions but have never previously participated to such a large extent as they will this year. Some 15 representatives from Volvo Aero will participate at the Dubai Airshow, at which the company will market its expertise and services in both the component and after-market areas from a combined stand and chalet.
As at the large International Paris Air Show in Le Bourget in summer 2007, Volvo Aero will focus on its lightweight technology: “Make it Light.” After-market deals are also important to Volvo Aero regarding both engine maintenance and the supply of spare parts, marketed under the slogan “Make it Easy.”
For some time, Volvo Aero Services has had an extensive partnership with the Emirates airline in the United Arab Emirates. Emirates has granted Volvo Aero Services exclusive rights to market and sell the surplus of the airline’s entire spare-parts inventory. As part of this contract, Volvo Aero Services opened a distribution center for spare parts in Dubai, together with the Volvo company Volvo Parts, whose task it is to handle logistics services.
The Dubai Airshow, which is being held for the tenth time, has rapidly expanded to become one of the aerospace industry’s most important trade fairs. Nearly 900 exhibitors from 50 countries will participate. A record number of aircraft – more than 140 – will be at the exhibition.
