Master of Science in Engineering Physics specializing in Aeronautical Engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology.

I was born in the spring of 1988 in Stockholm, the beautiful capital of Sweden. I grew up in a suburb called Skogås, 20 minutes outside of the city and lived there until September  2011 when I moved south to Trollhättan and began my career as a trainee at Volvo Aero. My education was conducted at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) where I studied engineering physics with a specialization in aeronautical engineering.

The basic program in engineering physics provided me with a solid mathematical foundation, whereas the studies in aeronautics introduced me to the advanced problem solving that present engineers are encountering. The aerospace business is facing huge challenges, especially from the strict climate goals and has to take the lead when it comes to cutting edge technology. This was another reason for my choice of specialization. Later on, I did my thesis work within the field of non-Newtonian fluid mechanics at the department of mechanics at KTH.
Because of my background in aeronautical engineering, I always considered Volvo Aero as a potential employer and when I heard about their reputable Young Graduate Program, the choice was easy. Volvo Aero collaborates with the biggest actors in the aircraft engine industry and I am convinced that the time I spend here will be beneficial not only for my technical, but also my personal development.

The first three weeks of the program was performed in the workshop. It was very rewarding to see the products up close and the processes needed to realize them. I was also extremely impressed by the skills that the people working here possess. Their craft is truly first-class.

The program is divided into four six-week-blocks and at the moment, I am finishing my first one working at the department of aerothermodynamics. This is also my final destination so to say; this is where I will be positioned once the program has ended and I believe it is a perfect match. Throughout this year, I would like to see areas such as marketing, project management and perhaps life cycle analysis in order to broaden my view of the company. The opportunities are plentiful which is very motivating. Furthermore, the program will end with a three month placement abroad at one of Volvo Aero’s contractors, customers or associates. I have not really decided where I want to go yet, but again, you can advantageously make use of the company’s wide network of contacts so I am not at all worried.
