Master of Science in Chemical Engineering with specialization in material technology, Uppsala University

I was born in 1986 in Stenungsund and grew up in the small town of Vänersborg. After junior high school I wanted to try something different. I decided to study marine biology and therefore moved back to the west coast, this time to Lysekil. During this time I realized that chemistry and math are my key interests and chemical engineering felt quite right.

I studied for a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering, specializing in materials at Uppsala University. In addition to the courses included in the basic program I chose to read business administration and courses in nuclear technology. My thesis work was performed at the materials department of Scania in Södertälje. The scope of the work was crevice corrosion of different materials in truck cabs.

My interest for material science made the aerospace industry with its extreme material conditions an exciting field of work. In combination with the benefits of being able to try many different work tasks the trainee program at Volvo Aero was a natural choice. The trainee program fits me and my curiosity especially good because you get to see so many different parts and functions of the company.

We started our employment with three weeks in the work shop, where I got the opportunity to see three different operations: thermal spraying, cleaning and surface treatment. We are now up and running with our first work placement period where I get to see the same operations, but from the technician's point of view. During the trainee year, my hopes are to work in areas such as purchasing, laboratory and business development. For me, this is a fantastic opportunity to meet interesting people and learn new exciting things.
